What is RECESS?

The Pitch

Support your fellow students as they compete for the chance turn their brilliant startup ideas into viable businesses. Watch as they go head-to-head against other teams from the region and make their pitch to a panel of esteemed judges. The winner will be flown out to the RECESS Field Trip in Los Angeles, where they will get the opportunity to pitch to some of the biggest VCs and investors in the nation.

The After Party

Work hard. Play hard. After the PITCH Regional Semifnals, celebrate the teams' success with a FREE CONCERT with SuperDuperKyle. Your student ID gets you priority entry. Don't miss your chance to catch one of the hottest names in music!

Things to know

How do I enter My Business?

If you’re a college student, apply for the Pitch at recesspitch.com by March 28, 2016. Five teams from each school will be selected to participate in the Campus Qualifiers round. The winning team from each school’s Campus Qualifier will advance to the Regional Semifinals.

What is Capital Championship?

CAPITAL Championship is a nationwide entrepreneurial tournament with a $250,000 cash prize. The tournament strengthens the startup community by offering exposure, networking, mentorship, and CASH to emerging entrepreneurs and seasoned venturists.

Who's pitching?

Five of your fellow students have been selected from a pool of applicants to pitch to a panel of our judges.

The winning team from your school will advance to the Regional Semifinals to go up against: 2 other teams from nearby colleges who advanced from the Campus Qualifiers, 1 Wildcard team open to any college student in the state in which the event is taking place + three teams from the Capital Championship.

What does the winning team get?

The winner of the Campus Qualifiers advance to the PITCH Regional Semifinals. Each team that applies gets access to our Startup Toolkit (link to toolkit). The winner from the Regional Semifinals will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles for the RECESS Field Trip, inclusive of roundtrip airfare, hotels, food, and swag.

There, they'll reprise their pitches at the PITCH National Semifinals for a chance to go before big-time VCs and Investors in the Finals.

Does It cost any money?

Nope! The Pitch Campus Qualifiers are FREE! Just make sure to RSVP .

Well... the obvious reason is because you'll get to hear your friends and fellow students pitch their innovative startup ideas. They'll love to have you cheer them on!

You'll also get guaranteed entry to the RECESS After Party, featuring a concert by some of the hottest acts in music. (As long as you RSVP and show up before the headliner).
